Akshay Kumar took to his social media handle to share a new poster and the release of his production venture, Durgamati, earlier titled Durgavati. The poster has this ancient-horror appeal with a mystic twist. Bhumi Pednekar who stars in the lead role in the film sports an ethnic look with the vermillion bindi being rubbed off. She looks very angry. Announcing the release of the film on Amazon Prime Video, Akshay Kumar asked fans whether they were ready to meet Durgamati. The film will release on December 11. Check out Akshay's post below:
While the poster looks intriguing and the OTT release doesn't surprise anymore, we wonder what's the reason for the change of the name. Earlier, Bhumi had opened up on signing the film saying that it is one of the most special films of her career. "I am shooting for Durgavati (earlier titled) in Bhopal. It's a very new narrative and a new story for me. I am carrying the entire film on my shoulders for the first time and really amazing people are associated with this film, so it's going really well," said Bhumi, while interacting with the media at fashion photographer Dabboo Ratnani's 2020 calendar launch.
When asked about the pressure of carrying an entire film on her shoulders, Bhumi said, "There is always a pressure when you shoot a film because you try to give a better performance than your previous ones." Before embarking on this new film, Bhumi had said, "Durgavati (previous title) is going to take me in horror space. It is the most challenging and special film for me as it is for the first time the responsibility will be on my shoulders. Durgavati is something I'm most pressured and excited about. Akshay sir is a genius, I respect him."
It is said that Durgamati is a remake of Anushka Shetty starrer Bhaagamathie. The Telugu horror film was a hit. Are you excited for Durgamati? Let us know your thoughts by tweeting to us at @bollywood_life.
