Many have credited Aashram as Bobby Deol's career-best performance, and with good reason. Despite witnessing such a long albeit criminally underrated career, today's audience or those swayed by socia-media negativity, are finally waking up to Bobby Deol, the talented actor, courtesy his recent OTT work like Class of '83 and Aashram. With Aashram Chapter 2 — the dark side getting as good a response as the first part, it was a perfect time to sit down for an exclusive interview with the web series' director, the legendary Prakash Jha, and he graciously heaped praise on his lead star.
Expressing his joy at how Bobby performed a complex role in Aashram, Prakash Jha said, “The credit goes to him, He is the perfect casting for this. He is a perfect actor and the kind of persona he has, I am fortunate that he liked this role and understood the shade of this character and enjoyed doing it, I'm really fortunate for that. Humari series ko chaar chaand lag gaye Bobby Deol ke aane ke wajah se, kyunki Bobby Deol ke liye humne kuch nahi kiya, woh toh hai hi aise actor aur uski personality waisi hai. (Our series got elevated when Bobby Deol came on board because we didn't do anything for Bobby Deol, he is that good an actor and his personality is only so great.)”
Pointing out how it was his luck that Bobby Deol agreed to come on board, Prakashji added, “I didn't give him the role, he deserved it, he organically came. I was holding my breath when I was narrating him the script ki yeh 'haan' karde banda (that he would say, 'yes'). I have not done him any favour, I feel he has done a favour by doing this role. It's such a difficult character to play and he has done it so well.”
Well, we're glad that everyone is talking about Bobby Deol's talent at long last.
