Broken but Beautiful, from producer Ekta Kapoor, is back for its sophomore season, and the appreciation from the both the audience and critics for the show has been off the charts. Positive reviews have poured in from all sections of social media since the first episode dropped, leaving the makers and cast in a state of euphoria. Fortunately, BollywoodLife got to sit down for a tête-à-tête with the lead actors of Broken but Beautiful, Vikrant Massey and Harleen Sethi, to know just how overjoyed they are, and as the conversation progressed, we ended up discussing a whole list of things under the sun.
From Harleen's personal experiences with romance and being a wild-child to how TV both helped shape Vikrant's film and web career while also making him realize that he had to move on from the medium to explore his creativity – it was an interview that covered the length, breath and depth of their inner thought. Speaking about her past crazy experiences with love, Harleen said, "I've been quite a wild child, so I have a lot of stories. Also, even though I've been born and brought up in Bombay, my parents were, or eve. So, there were many restrictions. In fact, my friendship with my brother only happened around two years ago because earlier, we used to fight a lot just like the two sisters in the film Pataakha used to fight. And because of that, my brother and I have enjoyed like anything that how much we've fought. My parents were so conventional that if I used to talk with a boy outside my building, my brother used to complain to them. So, how my personality was compared to how they were created a lot of differences, which let me to hide and do many things.
"Having a boyfriend was considered very wrong back then in my home. At least, till a few years ago, to even say I had a boyfriend was taboo. That's what I'm saying: Even though I'm born and brought up in Bombay, these were very tricky at home. Now, since the last couple of years, my parents have grown with me and have understood how the generation works – they've also taken some time. I've taken some steps forward and they've taken some and now we've found a middle ground and have become friends, but earlier, we've there were many things. What lies I;ve told, you wouldn't even believe. So, there are many such snippets."
