Abhishek Bachchan's The Big Bull has finally released on Disney+ Hotstar and director Kookie Gulati's 'scam job' drama has opened to mixed reactions from the audience. Those who have watched it either found the film quite similar to Hansal Mehta's web series Scam 1992 or completely dull.
Talking about Abhishek's performance, many people were mighty impressed with junior Bachchan's mannerism and the way he pulled off the difficult role. The recreated setup of the 1980s and the 90s in the film, also managed to keep the audience hooked to the screens. Many people called it Abhishek's finest performance till date.
However, there were many people who thought that Scam 1992 was a lot better than The Big Bull in terms of its lead actor Pratik Gandhi, background music, supporting cast and engaging screenplay.
""Scam 1992" was better than The "Big Bull". No doubt junior B did a good job but there was no gujrati accent and that cunning background music.. movie was shortcut of scam 1992 but both movie showed different informers for lady reporter," one Twitter user wrote.
Another user tweeted, "Its like revisiting ‘Scam1992’, same staging & scenes. So it not interesting, rather its like a predictable drama. Abhisek has tried really well to justify tat role. Reminds ‘Guru’. Music not gud. Only for those who havent watchd Scam92. DULL."
The film is based on the securities scam of 1992. It is said to be loosely based on stockbroker Harshad Mehta's life and his involvement in financial crimes over a period of 10 years, from 1980 to 1990. It also stars Ileana D'Cruz, Nikita Dutta, and Sohum Shah in key roles. The film is bankrolled by Ajay Devgn and Anand Pandit.
