South star Samantha Akkineni made her OTT debut with web series The Family Man 2 which also stars Manoj Bajpayee, who essays the protagonist. Samantha plays the role of a terrorist named Raji. The series also marks Samantha's debut appearance on the Hindi screen. But it seems like the South star has landed in trouble with netizens after the trailer of The Family Man 2 was recently released online.
Angry Twitter users have been brutally trolling Samantha for allegedly portraying Tamilians as 'extremists'. While some have been accusing the makers of showing the Tamil people in a bad light, some are demanding a ban on the web series if it hurts the sentiments of the people in any which way.
Take a look.
Manoj Bajpayee returns in the starring role in The Family Man season two along with Priyamani Raj, Sharib Hashmi, Seema Biswas, Darshan Kumar, Sharad Kelkar, Sunny Hinduja and Shreya Dhanwanthary in pivotal roles. South actress Samantha Akkineni marks her digital debut as antagonist of the show.
Samantha's husband and actor Naga Chaitanya sure seems excited. Chaitanya, who is Telugu superstar Nagarjuna's son, is not surprisingly excited about his wife's debut in the OTT space, considering launch of the second season has already been postponed in the past amidst the ongoing pandemic. Unconfirmed sources stated the show is now slated to release in June.
The first season of Raj & DK's The Family Man was a hit upon release in 2019. Manoj Bajpayee plays Srikant Tiwari, an NIA agent struggling to balance his super-secretive job profile with his mundane middle-class life.
